Andres Vargas
Andres "Andy" Vargas, Taos County's Probate Judge, was born and raised in Taos. After graduating from Taos High School , he served in the U.S. Army and then went on to complete his education.
Education
Andy attended UNM in Albuquerque, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English with a minor in Spanish. Following UNM, he attended Texas Southern Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree.
Experience
He returned to New Mexico to practice law, and spent his legal career in Taos County. He was in private practice as an attorney for many years, and then joined the State of New Mexico, becoming a Special Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Enforcement Division. He retired from the State to successfully run for Probate Judge, where his legal background, as well as his training as a grief and loss counselor, has made him uniquely qualified for this position.
Family
He lives in Taos with his wife Eugenia Hauber, and is the father of two beautiful and brilliant daughters, Sharon and Lisa Vargas. |
