7-36-2 A. (paraphrased) The County Assessor is responsible and has the authority for the discovery and valuation of all property subject to valuation for property taxation purposes in the County, except the property specified by Subsections B and C of this section.
I, Darlene J. Vigil, Taos County Assessor feel that it is of the utmost importance to uphold the responsibilities defined above in order to develop a system that best serves the needs of the public as well as my staff.
As the Taos County Assessor, I am committed to serving the property owners of Taos County by complying with all State Statutes and all New Mexico State and Taxation and Revenue Department/Property Tax Division Rules and Regulations and will expect the same of all those employed by this office.
Additionally, I pledge to be liaison between the public and the New Mexico State Legislators, with the well being of the constituents of Taos County being the ultimate priority.
Finally, I will utilize the department budget and all other available resources to accomplish the responsibilities described above, to successfully arrive at a current and correct valuation for Taos County.
Goals
My goal is to make the changes necessary to the physical and administrative layout of the Taos County Assessor's Office, so that all mandated statutes and regulations are carried out in a manner that best serves the property owners of Taos County. My desire is to educate the public in regards to the operations of the Assessor's Office, so that they truly feel that their concerns are being addressed and to provide a voice for my constituents to both State and County authorities.
