Public Works Department
Mission
The mission of the Public Works Department is to design, construct, operate, maintain and repair County roads, bridges, flood control, and water conservation facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Public Works Department responsibilities include regulatory and ministerial programs for Taos County. As part of Emergency Management, we are on call 24-hours a day to respond to problems reported by the public such as floods, windstorms, snowstorms, etc.
The department protects property and promotes public safety for those we serve now and in the future. By striving to increase productivity and efficiency while continuing to emphasize and provide the highest levels of service.
The department also issues all permits for excavation and driveway construction and street right of way use. Code monitoring and enforcement is also accomplished through this department.
